^[1] Prof. Alan Deidun is a full Professor at the Department of Geosciences of the University of Malta, Malta’s Ocean Ambassador and a member of the United Nations’ Regular Process and Director of the International Ocean Institute Malta Training Centre. His main areas of expertise are: coastal and marine ecology, biological oceanography, ecology and genetics of invasive alien species, marine conservation, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), marine spatial planning, dynamics of jellyfish outbreaks and policy-research interfaces.

^[2] Prof. Maciej Zalewski is the Director of the International Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences – European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology under the auspices of UNESCO, the Director of the Department of Applied Ecology University of Lodz and the Director of the Center for Ecohydrological Studies University of Lodz. His main area of expertise is ecohydrology, in particular: using of ecosystem processes in river and lake basins for reduction of various forms of human impact and enhancement of water ecosystems services, biodiversity and resilience; restoration of water and ecosystem resources in urbanized spaces for economic development, human health and quality of life improvement.

^[3] Ms Dagmar Behrendt Kaljarikova is a policy officer at the European Commissions’ Directorate General Environment. Her previous experience includes working as attaché/project manager at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova with the responsibility for EU funded projects/programmes in the field of environment, energy, transport and regional development, policy dialogue in these sectors and cooperation with other development partners, as well as the policy officer for Turkey, Montenegro, REC and NGOs at DG Environment. She is a graduate of Technical University of Zvolen, an Engineer of Environmental Technologies.
